INSPIRATION
This is a little list of authors/books/blogs that have inspired me and I hope you will enjoy.
Authors
-
Susan Forward
Susan has a couple of books that explain how family dynamics work and how you use them to live a life that's better for you. You find all her books and more info here.
-
Barbara Sher
Whilst I do not agree with everything Barbara says, she has a unique way of showing that people who wish to work in more than one career and with a multitude of interests do not, in fact, have to choose. You can find more about her here. The website is a little, um, unusual, but her books are professionally written and well versed.
The two I most recommend are:
-
Eckhart Tolle
"The Power of Now" is one of the most successful and well-received books on mindfulness and living in the present. He also has little bits of wisdom available on spotify for free called "Gateways to now".
Books
-
Timothy Ferris - The 4-hour workweek
This is one amazing book. It challenges basic assumptions - do we have to work 8 hours a day? Who determined that? Are there other ways to live life? How much time do we waste daily? Can we create income in ways we haven't even thought about yet?
-
Charles Duhigg - The power of habit
Why do we do what we do? Man is a creature of habit. Some of our habits are not exactly good for us, though. To get rid of them or create new, healthy habits isn't that simple. This book shows us how.
Blogs
(click title for link)
Subtitles "Getting better at being human", this is exactly what the blog focusses on. David, the owner/author, commits to rather fascinating self-experiments, which range from a month of meditation to not eating solid food for a while.
Unfortunately, Oliver hasn't posted in a long time, but his older posts are still well worth a read. He writes about basic logistics of life and illustrates them with some amazing comics.
I wouldn't consider myself a minimalist, but definitely lean towards the concepts of less stuff, more free time and using your time the way you want to. Great articles about what really is important in life. I particularly like the "becoming" part of the blog's title, everyone can find themselves at their own level of evolving into minimalism.
This blog is to be taken with a grain of salt. It is a self-proclaimed "website for winners" and features rather antiquated views about the roles of males and females. I find it to be interesting to read though since it offers some insight into building a successful business and generating income online.
Misc.
I find guided meditation to be way easier than the non-guided version, and these guys offer the most amazing options.
